New Brunswick Provincial Program
New Brunswick Provincial Program
If you haven’t heard of New Brunswick Provincial Program, you might be missing out on your chance to come to Canada. With the Express Entry system becoming more and more competitive every year, immigrating through provincial programs could be a great way to get the permanent resident status without breaking the bank on English courses and getting points through Canadian education.
New Brunswick, one of Canada’s Atlantic Provinces, offers four welcoming immigration pathways for eligible individuals, namely getting province’s support through Express Entry, a pathway for skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and the Atlantic Immigration Pilot.
New Brunswick and Express Entry
First of all, if you submitted your express entry profile, you might already be on the right track. You can apply for the province’s nomination if you have an Express Entry profile and meet the following of the New Brunswick provincial nominee program eligibility criteria:
- CLB 7 in each of the four language competencies in English or French. If you’re not familiar with CLB, you can go to the Canadian government website, take you CELPIP or IELTS language test results, and find out what your CLB level is. It is similar to Upper-Intermediate, or B2 level of language competency.
- You will also need a high school diploma, be between 22 and 55,
- You will need to obtain the minimum Federal Skilled Worker Program eligibility score of 67 points based on your age, language skills, work experience, and education, which you can calculate on the government website. Remember that for New Brunswick Express Entry Provincial Nominee Program you have to have your educational credentials assessed before you can know for sure that it will be considered equal to the Canadian degree.
- You must demonstrate that you have connections in the province, intend to live there, and have enough money to support yourself once you arrive. As an individual, in 2020 you would need to have $12, 960 at your disposal, but you would need more money as a family.
- Your work experience should be at least 1 year (or 1,560 hours) of continuous (without breaks) skilled work. Skilled work means employment that requires at least some post-secondary training, and it will be listed on the government website under NOC codes 0, A, and B.
New Brunswick Skilled Worker stream also has some age restrictions of 22 to 55, and the requirements are overall similar to the Express Entry stream of the New Brunswick Immigration Provincial Nominee Program. The main difference is the having an offer of employment, which is the central selection factor. Your offer of employment must be real and genuine, and your salary should match the average salaries offered for the type of work you’ll be performing.
There is a requirement that the job has to be in an area where there are skill shortages. However, this requirement is aimed at employers hiring the skilled worker. As an applicant, you can apply if you have a job offer that fits the NOC codes listed on the provincial website.
Your education, work experience, and language ability must be sufficient to perform your job duties. You only need to score 60 points in the FSWP selection factors, and have an intention to stay in New Brunswick after you become a permanent resident.
Entrepreneur Stream
If you are someone who is experience in owning and/or managing a business, you might be eligible to apply for immigration under the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) – entrepreneurial stream. This stream has the same age restriction as Express Entry and Skilled Worker, but your level of English or French must be CLB 5.
You also have to possess at least 2 years of post-secondary education, and your have to have a personal net worth of $600,000. Please read the detailed instruction guide on how to evaluate your net worth for this program.
Given that this program is for entrepreneurs, you will have to submit a detailed business plan and show that you have the necessary work experience as a business owner or a senior manager to qualify for the program.
All in all, this stream is for individuals who know how to lead business, and are likely to create jobs and contribute to New Brunswick economy.
