The University of Toronto (U of T or UToronto) is a public research university, founded by Royal Charter in 1827 as king`s College. UToronto is proud to be the first institution of higher education in the Colony of Upper Canada. During its long and proud history, the University of Toronto has educated three Governors-General of Canada, four Prime Ministers of Canada, three foreign leaders. Ten Nobel laureates, five Turing Award winners, 94 Rhodes Scholars have been affiliated with the university.

It is worth mentioning, that U of T  was the birthplace of insulin and stem cell research, and was the site of the first practical electron microscope, the development of deep learning and multi-touch technology.  The institution manages by far the largest annual research budget and in 2018  was named the top research university in Canada by Research Infosource. U of T is one of two members of the Association of American Universities outside the United States.

The University of Toronto offers over 700 undergraduate programs in Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Commerce and Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Kinesiology, and Physical Education, Music, and Architecture. The institution provides second entry professional programs in Education, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Law, and Medicine.

U of T undergraduate students can design a degree that is personalized to their interests. When building an Arts, Science, or Business degree, they have the opportunity to choose from Specialist, Major, and Minor program options. Engineering students can add on a certificate, a specific Engineering minor, like business or nanotechnology, or an Arts and Science minor. University of Toronto students in Music, Kinesiology or Architectural/Visual Studies, can also combine their studies with programs within the Faculty of Arts and Science

Over 300 graduate programs in a wide variety of fields are available at the University of Toronto. This includes more than 70 professional graduate programs, more than 130 combined programs that include professional master’s components, 3 dual degree programs, over 40 collaborative programs, and 4 diploma programs.

The University of Toronto Career Learning Center is a network of employers, alumni, industry reps, faculty, staff, fellow students, and student organizations on all three campuses. Its aim is to bring students and recent grads together with partners interested in professional collaborations to benefit from their first-class knowledge and skills. The Career Learning Center organizes various recruitment events and helps students to pursue experiential learning programs and network with potential employers, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Professional Experience Year Co-op Programs are open to U of T students in Engineering, Commerce and Computer Science. Students can work full time for an employer of their choice for 12 to 16 consecutive months after the third year of studies. There is an option to work for an additional four months after the second year, giving up to 20 months of professional experience before graduation. 

U of T English Language Transition programs help newcomers to prepare and meet English language requirements. They range in length from six weeks to eight months, giving students a solid foundation in English, as well as sound preparation for post-secondary studies. Enrichment and Summer programs are offered on all three University of Toronto campuses in a wide range of topics. 

The University of Toronto has more than 1,000 diverse organizations and student groups across all three campuses. St. George Campus has 11 residences and can accommodate 6,502 students. The Scarborough campus can accommodate 844 students and the Mississauga campus - 1,551 students. It is worth mentioning, that the U of T  has a housing guarantee for students entering their first year. 

Tuition Fees depend on a chosen program, a year of study, a course load, and a campus. For international students, they are from 21,560 CAD to 64,810 CAD. The University of Toronto has comprehensive scholarship programs.
