The College of the Rockies is a public educational institution, founded in 1975 in southeast British Columbia. Today six of its campuses are located in Golden, Kimberley, Creston, Invermere, Fernie, and the main one is in Cranbrook. This area is known all over Canada for its pristine nature, beautiful mountains, and lots of opportunities for an active lifestyle. More than 2000 full-time students choose the College of the Rockies each year, among them - 200 students are international, and come to study here from different corners of the world. All the campuses offer a wide range of in-class and online programs, courses, and services that correspond to the demands of communities and people they serve. The College of the Rockies provides high-quality academic services in the areas of Adult Basic Education, Child, Youth and Family Studies, Tourism, Health, Administrative Studies, Computer Technology, Fire Services, Trades, and University Studies.
The College of the Rockies is a proud member of the Colleges and Institutes Canada, the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association. The institution is known for its sustainability, a committee of staff and students work hard to enable all the campuses to operate in a more environmentally friendly, socially active, and economically sustainable way. A number of the College of the Rockies projects in this sphere include Solar Energy and Lights Out Campaign, Water Bottle Filling Stations and Recycling, and a new Composting Program with a grant of 30,000 CAD from the Columbia Basin Trust.

Students of the College of the Rockies can receive transfer credits for equivalent courses taken at other Canadian institutions in British Columbia (BC Transfer Guide) and in Alberta (ACAT Transfer). It is worth mentioning, that more than 6,000 transfer agreements are now available with BC institutions and more than 700 with Alberta institutions.
The College of the Rockies is proud of its Dual Admission agreements with the University of Lethbridge and the University of Victoria. A special Education Advisor helps the applicants of the Dual Program to select the courses and tailor their individual educational plan. Current College students also have a chance to study at Griffith University in Australia as a part of the international transfer opportunities.
The College of the Rockies offers its international students a well-tailored English Language Program that consists of four levels - Intermediate Academic Reading/Writing/Grammar and Intermediate Academic Listening and Speaking, High Intermediate Academic Reading/Writing/Grammar and High Intermediate Academic Listening and Speaking, Advanced Academic Reading/Writing/Grammar and Advanced Academic Listening and Speaking, Academic Skills for College Preparation and Interactive Communication for College Prep. The fourth level of the English Language Program is an intensive college preparation course, students can combine it with other academic courses at the College of the Rockies.
International students who chose the English Language Program at the College of the Rockies for 6-months or less do not need a special study permit. Those who join the course in the first half of any semester and enroll for a short-term period can enjoy the benefit of flexible start dates. The minimal duration of the English Language Program available is six weeks.
English language proficiency requirements for the admission to the College of the Rockies for the international students include three options: TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic, CAEL-CE, or Pearson Test of English certificates; a high school academic English course at the grade needed for a chosen program, and three years of full-time instruction in an English speaking country; an English 12 course or equivalent at the grade needed for a chosen program and four years of full-time instruction in a country where English is not the primary language.
The College of the Rockies offers its students a wide range of accommodation options that include living in a homestay, student residence, or rental apartments. Applicants who choose to live with a Canadian family have their own private, furnished bedroom and access to the bathroom, telephone, and laundry facilities and are provided with three meals per day. All host families are visited and interviewed by the College of Rockies representative to guarantee a safe and friendly environment for the newcomers. The homestay fee is 700 CAD per month and includes an Airport pick-up from the Cranbrook Airport. Another option is a Student Residence located at the College. The Residence fee is 1,900 CAD per semester (four months). Also, there are many apartments for rent within walking distance of the College of the Rockies campuses.
Tuition Fees at the College of the Rockies vary depending on a chosen program, its duration, and the field of study. Often they are calculated based on a "cost-per-credit" or “cost-per-course” basis. The average Tuition Fees for international students are between 9,000 CAD and 16,200 CAD per year.
