The University of Western Ontario, also known as UWO or Western University, began its history in 1878 in London, Canada. It is a large public research institution, with 40,000 students, including more than 5,800 international learners, who come from 128 different countries of the world. The network of UWO`s alumni is also impressive - 325,000 of them are now working in 150 countries worldwide.

London is a safe, vibrant, and welcoming community of more than 383,000 people. It serves as a regional medical and industrial hub for southwestern Ontario. UWO’s main campus, located here, is considered Canada’s most beautiful university. It spans 481 hectares of Gothic-style buildings mixed with modern, LEED-certified structures. The campus provides an ideal environment for the community of scholars and students.

Western University is known for its unique research opportunities and experience. The institution is a leader in wind engineering and testing, for example, of such unique structures as the World Trade Center. UWO also leads thanks to the construction of a state-of-the-art Richard Ivey School of Business; and the opening of the first North American business school campus in Hong Kong. It is worth mentioning, that Western University has also been a medical advancement leader for almost 150 years - since the year of its establishment.

UWO admission requirements vary depending on a chosen program. Western is an English language university and it requires proof of English language proficiency before admission. The following English language proficiency tests are accepted: IELTS International, TOEFL Internet-based, Paper-based and the TWE, Pearson Test of English Academic, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency, CanTEST, high score of the English Language Centre at Western University, Fanshawe College ESL Program, CultureWorks and Brescia Preliminary Year + Language.

The English Language Centre is designed to help international students, who have conditional admission to programs offered at Western University and its affiliates but lack some English language skills. The center also provides non-academic programs for individuals wishing to improve their English language skills. 

UWO guarantees all its incoming first-year students, who meet the eligibility requirements, a place in the university’s Residence. Workout rooms, dining halls, piano rooms, and laundry facilities are available in every residential building. It is also worth mentioning, that all buildings are located close to the heart of campus. 

Tuition Fees at the University of Western Ontario vary depending on a chosen program, its duration, and the year of study. The average First-Year Tuition Fee for most of the international programs is 35,935 CAD per year.
