The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) was founded in 1974 in the beautiful Fraser Valley east of Vancouver, British Columbia. Today it is a public university that enrolls approximately 15,000 students per year and boasts campuses in  Chilliwack, Agassiz, Abbotsford, Hope and Mission. The University of the Fraser Valley is fully accredited by the Ministry of Advanced Education of British Columbia, and the Education Quality Assurance. The institution is also a member of the Universities Canada that represents 90 Canadian public and private not-for-profit universities and university-degree level colleges, the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials and on the international level, UFV is accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

The structure of the University of Fraser Valley consists of seven faculties and colleges: the College of Arts, the Faculty of Access and Continuing Education, the Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies, the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Professional Sciences, the Faculty of Science and the School of Graduate Studies. The departments of Business Administration, English, Mathematics, Criminology and Criminal Justice, and Psychology are the largest and among the most popular academic departments of the University of Fraser Valley. 

The University of Fraser Valley offers a wide number of academic programs that include 68 undergraduate certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs; 17 bachelor degree programs, with majors, minors, and extended minors in more than 35 program areas; 10 master’s degree, graduate certificate, and post-baccalaureate programs; 22 trades and apprenticeship programs; 22 adult training, continuing education certificates, upgrading, and ESL programs. Six major program areas offer co-operative education options and more than 40 programs allow study-abroad options.

The choice of the English Language Studies programs includes English Language Studies, Academic Bridge, and the University Foundation certificate program. UFV`s English Language Studies program is focused on the improvement of basic speaking, reading, and writing skills at the intermediate and advanced levels. The program is tailored for landed immigrants who want to improve their English and open new career opportunities in Canada. The ELS Academic Bridge program is an advanced-level English course designed for applicants who plan to enroll in university-level academic courses in Canada or abroad. The University Foundation certificate is an intensive program that helps students to transit from ELS to full-time university-level programs. It is worth mentioning, that UFV students can take both ELS and university-level courses at the same time. All ELS courses for domestic students are tuition-free and various grants for international students are also available.

To enter the University of Fraser Valley, applicants must satisfy the general, program, and English language requirements. As English is the language of instruction at UFV, international applicants must demonstrate accepted English test scores. Those who are unable to meet the English language entrance requirement are encouraged to upgrade their language skills through Adult Basic Education, English Language Studies, or the University Foundation certificate at UFV.

Tuition Fees at the University of Fraser Valley vary depending on a chosen program, but it is worth mentioning, that UFV international tuition costs compare well with other Canadian universities. The four-month semester Tuition Fee is 7,560 CAD, additional credits cost 630 CAD each and some courses may have additional fees.
