The University of Calgary (U of C or UCalgary) began its history as a branch of the University of Alberta in 1944. Its fast development, professional staff, and academic ambitions led to the independence of the institution - in 1966 the UCalgary became autonomous. Since then, the University of Calgary creates progress and prosperity in the region. Many new faculties and campuses have opened their doors within 55 years of its recent history. 

More than 30,000 students choose the U of C as their alma mater. Its diverse and friendly academic atmosphere is the result of each student`s harmonious development. Learners are offered a choice of 250+ Undergraduate, Graduate, Professional, and Continuing Education programs, Open Studies option is also available.

The number of University of Calgary Undergraduate programs available for a choice exceeds 100. Graduate programs prepare learners for a Master of Arts in Anthropology, Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology, Doctor of Philosophy in Archeology, Master of Arts in Archeology, Master of Architecture, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Master of Science in Biological Sciences, and Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences.

The University of Calgary Open Studies allow students to take credit courses without being admitted to the University. Degree holders and non-degree holders, visiting students, visiting students-researchers, and current high school students can join the selected courses. Professional and Continuing education programs offer over 1,200 courses and seminars delivered on-campus and online. Available options include the Professional Development program at the Faculty of Social Work, Haskayne Executive Education, and Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development.

The University of Calgary is home to a large and diverse community of students, many of them come from different countries of the world. The institution provides a wide range of English Language programs: 13-week Semester Program and Academic Communication Certificate Program, 5-week Intensive Program, 2-week Language and Culture course, 8-week IELTS Preparation course, and 10-week TOEIC Preparation course. USpeak Global is a program available for international students at the UCalgary, it connects students who want to improve or practice the language they learn with those, who are native and eager to help. Other International Student services available at the U of C include immigration information, ISS programs, advising, and other useful resources. 

The University of Calgary is proud of its International Collaborative programs. They allow learners to earn two university degrees. To join any of these programs, students first must finish 2 or 3 undergraduate years at their institution, and then continue at the UCalgary. 2+2 Science, 3+2 Engineering, and Science programs are available. The U of C students can also experience exchanges, internships, and research trips to the partner educational institutions abroad.

International students are offered a wide range of accommodation options that include off-campus and on-campus living, and short-term accommodations. Residence Services provide tours to all buildings and room types.
