The University of British Columbia is one of the most popular and renowned higher education institutions in the world. That`s why its admission requirements are not simple and vary depending on a chosen degree and campus. The universal demand is that all applicants must meet the general admission requirements. English is the primary language of instruction, so students must pass the English Language Admission Standard. To meet this requirement, applicants can complete three or more consecutive years of full-time education in English in Canada or consider one of the UBC`s academic English Development Programs.
In 1969 at the Vancouver Campus the English Language Institute was opened. Since then, it has welcomed thousands of international students. Outstanding resources and professional instructors help students to achieve success in the following areas: Vancouver English Experience Program, English for Academic Purposes, Business English and English for the Global Citizens.
Another option to consider is UBC’s Vantage One Programs. They are designed as pathways for academically outstanding international students, who do not yet meet the English language standards for admission. These unique 11-month programs combine English language study and practice with the first-year degree courses. This is the first step in a successful way to a bachelor's degree. Students who complete the Vantage One Program, progress into the second year of the UBC undergraduate degree of their choice.
