Trent University began its history in 1964 in Peterborough, Ontario. Trent University`s Bata Library has recently been transformed into the library of the future. Today it boasts the Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation Center, a careful selection of books and non-print collections, three research centers, and two modern visualization labs, together with the Critical Making Studio. The Educational Design Research Studio, presentation practice room, and a wide variety of interactive student spaces are also located there. In 2017 the new Student Centre was opened on the Peterborough campus. Overlooking the Otonabee River, it provides new places and opportunities for students to learn, socialize, study, and engage with life on campus. Trent University Admission Requirements vary depending on the applicant`s educational background. The list of minimum academic requirements and document submission requirements are available online. As all subjects at Trent University are taught in the English language, applicants must be proficient in both spoken and written English. Students whose first language is not English are required to submit proof of English proficiency like the following tests: TOEFL, IELTS, the Duolingo English Test, CAEL, Cambridge C1 Advanced/C2 Proficiency, PEARSON PTE ACADEMIC. Trent`s applicants, who do not have the necessary English language proficiency scores, are invited to apply for gradual admission through the Trent-ESL English for University Program. This intensive English language course combines academic skills with the university transition program and provides a strong foundation for academic success at Trent. Students are guaranteed the immediate progression to full-time Undergraduate Degree programs upon successful completion of the ESL English for University Program.
Trent University offers another useful ESL course, known as the Core English Program that is designed to help beginner and intermediate English users. Students develop essential language skills and discuss popular pre-academic topics such as science, urban studies, literature, arts and culture, and the environment. After the successful completion of Level 3, they can enter the Foundations for University Program at Trent. It is worth mentioning, that admission to the Core English program does not require any test scores.
Trent Residences are available on Peterborough and Durham campuses. Students can choose traditional, or suite-style rooms. It is also worth mentioning, that a brand-new, six-story residence and academic building is opening in Durham soon.
International students Tuition Fees vary depending on a chosen program, its duration, and whether a student is new or returning. The average Tuition Fee is 22,454 CAD per year.
