Senior School program prepares students for university. It provides them with numerous opportunities to link their learning and skills across disciplines and apply their knowledge in real-world settings. A wide range of courses from the Ontario Curriculum, usage of the latest technology, including tablet PCs and web-based learning tools, guarantee that all graduates of Pickering College have a solid understanding of key concepts and skills in core Senior School subjects. The Advisor Program at Pickering College focuses on individualized attention to learners. Each Senior School student is assigned a Faculty Advisor and they develop a four-year mentoring relationship, that helps students to meet high standards for lifelong growth and learning.
A range of enriching auxiliary programs are also available at Pickering College: online credits and online enrichment circles offer the perfect blend of synchronous and asynchronous activities to keep learners engaged and on track. The Hilltop Summer Discovery Program offers a fun way to spend summer days in the Pickering camp, combining traditional camp activities, STEAM projects, and outdoor education. It is worth mentioning, that all of these programs are open to both current Pickering College students, and students in the wider community.
The Co-curricular Program at Pickering College provides all students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 with challenging and meaningful learning opportunities. The students are taught to lead a balanced and purposeful life, to explore and develop their skills and talents beyond the classroom. The choice of activities includes competitive athletics, fitness, recreational sports, diverse clubs, community outreach opportunities, as well as art, music, and drama.
The Outdoor Education Program engages Pickering students in activities that enrich their curricular understanding. Time at the Blue and Silver Farm, series of challenging off-campus trips and excursions encourages intellectual, emotional, and social development, leadership as well as age-appropriate risk-taking within a safe learning environment.
Pickering College allows online application, but all non-native English speakers are required to submit an English Language Proficiency test like TOEFL, IELTS, CEFR, or Duolingo.
At Pickering College, the Boarding program is available for students from Grade 7 to Grade 12. It is designed to provide a high level of support to students and create a dynamic and respectful community within all Pickering residences. Students will also be engaged in a number of activities and outings. International students will also be taught Canadian cultural norms and encouraged to share with other Pickering College Day students information about their country, culture, and traditions. It is worth mentioning, that each student dormitory has a Head Proctor, chosen by the students to help to facilitate all boarding activities. All students are also encouraged to get involved in Boarding Councils to develop their leadership skills.
Pickering College Tuition Fees vary for Day and Boarding students but all of them include daily hot lunch, a yearbook, individual school photographs, a full school panoramic picture, local traveling expenses for school athletic teams, student committee fees, and use of the school Health Centre, which is staffed with Registered Nurses and has access to the school Doctor.
Boarding International student Tuition Fee is 67,285 CAD per year. Additional English as a Second Language Learner Fees can be applied to students whose first language is not English and they have to access specialized classes as part of the curriculum and in addition, receive extra support throughout the year. Pickering College International Students Tuition for English as a Second Language Learners is 68,580 CAD per year.
