Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT), formerly known as Winnipeg Technical College, was established in 1985, in the heart of the Manitoba province. This unique hybrid institution combines secondary and post-secondary educational services under one roof. MITT College sees its mission in the satisfaction of Manitoba’s labor market needs, provision of high-quality academic programs in the fields of technology, vocational training, and adult education, and assistance in students` further successful employment. The Institute is proud of its alumni and boasts a 90 percent employment rate.
MITT College has more than 300 practicum and internship partners in Manitoba and in Canada. Experienced instructors, state-of-the-art laboratories, active use of modern technologies in the classroom make students job-ready and confident. Work Skills is a unique course, incorporated into every program at the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology. It consists of a series of workshops that develop students’ employability and soft skills.

MITT College programs and facilities are very attractive to international students, who come here from different corners of the world to study. Immigration Services Advisors at MITT have the IRRC designate and help newcomers with permits, visas, and immigration. Career Development Services like job search, resume, and interview preparations are also available for international students. It is worth mentioning, that Manitoba has a Nominee Program that offers successful graduates an option to immigrate to the province.
Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology focuses its academic work on the following study areas: Human Services, Skilled Trades, Business and Information Technology, Health Care. Youthbuild program is specifically designed for Indigenous learners.
High school options at MITT College include three pathways: full-time MITT high school program that combines academic and technical training, collaboration with partner school divisions, and school for mature learners. Students of Louis Riel School Division, Pembina Trails School Division, Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine, and Red River Valley School Division can join selected technical programs at MITT and earn a certificate.
MITT high school students spend half of their day on academic preparation, the subjects taught are English Language Arts, History of Canada, Mathematics, and Physical/Health Education. The other half of the day they develop their technical skills in one of the following courses: Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, Welding Technology, Electrical Trades Technology, Hairstyling, and Motorsport Technician. This two-year program is open for Grade 11 and 12 students.
Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology is proud of its collaboration with six Adult Learning Centers, that help students 19 or older to get their High School Diplomas or Mature Students High School Diploma certified by MITT College.
Over 30 certificate and diploma post-secondary programs that develop in-demand skills are available at MITT College. Students combine in-class knowledge with real work experience. Skilled Trades include Auto Mechanics, Carpentry, Electrical Applications, Industrial Welding. Choosing this field of study, the learners can also become CAD technicians, electronics technicians, graphic and print technicians, industrial mechanics, and motorsport technicians.
Health Care post-secondary programs at MITT College prepare students for the careers of health care aide and unit clerk, medical office assistant, rehabilitation assistant, and pharmacy technician. Business and Information Technology programs are designed for those who wish to become a business administrative assistant, software developer, cyber defense, and cloud administrator or pursue a career in the fields of Network and Computer Technology and Network Security.
MITT College Human Services programs include the following: Client Service Specialist, Culinary Arts, and Design, Hairstyling, Early Childhood Education, Hotel and Hospitality Services, Hospitality Management.
English Learning Center at Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology offers a wide range of English as a Second Language courses for newcomers to Canada. English for Academic Purposes for international students of MITT is taught at the English Language Institute. It is accredited by Languages Canada and EduCanada. Five levels are available, the courses include skills necessary for admission to MITT, socio-cultural activities, intensive instruction program and small class sizes. The program has multiple start dates throughout the year: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
MITT College values the comfort and happiness of its students, that's why the institute has developed its own Homestay program. Students are guaranteed a well-furnished private bedroom, three meals per day, and all the necessary utilities. Host families are carefully selected and provide students with their support. The Homestay program is also perfect for those who want to improve their English and communicative skills, as well as immerse themselves in the Canadian lifestyle and culture. Accommodation fee is 700 CAD per month, two first months must be paid in advance.
Tuition fees vary depending on a level and a chosen program. The average post-graduate program tuition fees start from 15,600 CAD to 16,350 CAD. Government of Canada Scholarships are available for international students.
