Langara College (LC) is a public undergraduate institution that offers programs in University Studies, Career Studies, and Continuing Studies. In 1994 the College became independent and since then, provides courses to 23,000 students annually. The curriculum is based on a cross-disciplinary approach and the institution values free integrity, mutual professionalism, respect, recognition of achievement, and social responsibility. The motto of Langara College states freedom can be achieved through knowledge.
Langara College is located on the traditional territory of the Musqueam First Nation, the community has strong connections with the Musqueam people. In 2016 the College was honored to receive the name House of Teachings from Musqueam in their language.
The institution is proud of its diverse community. 93 different countries of the world are represented by its international students, 225 students are indigenous. The average age of LC students is 23,5 and the majority of them come from Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby. Integrated intercultural practices enrich the curriculum, promote intercultural understanding, and provide training in support of global engagement.
LC leads initiatives that positively contribute to the province`s community fostering and creating more environmentally sound, socially just, and economically vibrant conditions. The school creates and strengthens programs that encompass the cross-disciplinary nature of sustainability and model sustainable practices. The admission requirements to Langara College include the successful completion of a British Columbia secondary program or its equivalent, or successful completion of an Adult Basic Education or General Educational Development program and an applicant must be 19 years of age minimum. Transfer programs and other admission possibilities are also available.
According to the British Columbia Students Outcome Survey, 92% are satisfied with Langara’s education, 96% are satisfied with the quality of instruction, 91% felt prepared for further studies and 83% were successfully transferred. The majority of LC students choose University-transfer programs, Continuing Studies, and Career Training programs.

Academic programs and courses are delivered in the following subject areas: the Arts, Business, Health, Humanities and Social Services, Science and Technology. More than 60 subject areas are open to applicants for admission three times a year.
Langara College offers a wide range of university-level programs and courses, including Baccalaureate Degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and citations. LC University-transfer programs are popular due to small class sizes, excellent support services, and competitive tuition fees. It is worth mentioning, that more students transfer to BC universities from Langara College than from any other college in the province. LC is especially proud of its successful University-transfer experience with the Capilano University, Queen`s University, SFU, and UNBC. Also, in the past 5 years, Langara faculty have been awarded over $1 million in research grants.
Langara College offers a great choice of Career programs. The one-year course guarantees students a certificate, two-year courses provide diplomas, and four-year courses result in a Bachelor's degree in the fields of Business, Industry, Community Services, and the Arts. Many Career programs allow a part-time study plan. Continuing Studies programs offer 700 courses and 35 certificate programs year-round, that provide lifelong learning opportunities to meet the individual needs of students.
Langara College Co-op programs combine study semesters with paid work terms locally, nationally, and internationally. Programs that have Co-op include Bachelor of Business Administration or Recreation Management, Business Diploma, Associate of Science Degree in Bioinformatics or in Computer Science, Diploma in Bioinformatics or Computer Science.

Exchange programs and courses available at LC combine studies with the excitement of travel. One semester-long program takes place in Japan (Ryukoku University Exchange Program and Tokiwa University Exchange Program), Korea (Soonchunhyang University Exchange Program), or other countries of the world. Langara`s athletic programs are well-known in Canada. The school is a member of the Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Association and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association, the students compete in Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Badminton, and Soccer. Langara College does not have student residences but offers its international students a well-tailored Homestay Program. Tens of thousands of students participated in this program over the past three decades and were satisfied with the welcoming atmosphere and positive experience of living in Canda. Private bedrooms, three meals per day, use of household appliances, and practice of English are among the guaranteed elements of the stay. Tuition Fees vary depending on a chosen program. Tuition Fees for International students are from 525 CAD to 590 CAD per credit. Students must pay 6,000 CAD in advance of registration, but they are charged only for the courses in which they register. This sum includes a 1,500 CAD non-refundable and non-transferable deposit.
