Immigration to Canada Egypt

The Arab Republic of Egypt is located on two continents, spanning the southwest corner of Asia and northeast corner of Africa by a land bridge on the Sinai Peninsula. More than 100 million people live in the country, making Egypt the most populated country in the Middle East and North Africa. Most people live near the banks of the Nile River since the Sahara Desert compose most of Egypt’s territory. Thus, many Egyptians want to improve the lives of their families and decide to leave the country. Immigration to Canada is seen as one of the best options for them. Today, there are near 74,000 people of Egyptian descent who live in Canada.

Study Immigration to Canada from Egypt

Young citizens of Egypt can opt for study immigration to Canada. First, they need to pursue at least a two-year study program at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Second, they should apply for the post-graduation work permit (PGWP) when they obtain their diploma or degree. PGWP allows graduates from Egypt to live and work in Canada for up to three years.

The third step is to apply for immigration to Canada under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Students from Egypt who want to apply for CEC are required to get at least a year of skilled work experience within the Skill Type 0, A, or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) and have a job under one of the mentioned categories. If international students apply for immigration to Canada under the PNP, they need to obtain a job offer under the NOC Skill Type 0, A, or B and have a year of work experience under the mentioned categories.

Work Immigration to Canada from Egypt

Work immigration to Canada is the second effective option for the residents of Egypt. Foreign residents can use the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) or International Mobility Program (IMP). Citizens of Egypt who get at least a year of work experience under the IMP or TFWP can apply for immigration to Canada under the PNP or CEC.

TFWP aims to help Canadian employers to fill labour shortages in the country. Then, they have to get a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This confirmation letter proves that local professionals cannot fill the position, and the employer has a right to hire a citizen of Egypt. After obtaining a copy of LMIA or its number, a foreigner needs to apply for an employer-specific work permit.

Unlike the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, International Mobility Program allows Canadian employers to hire workers without an LMIA. To work in Canada under this program, residents of Egypt should apply for an open work permit. It should be noted that foreigners can apply for open permits without LMIA only in specific circumstances.

The exemption categories include family members of foreign representatives and military personnel, spouses and common-law partners of international students and foreign workers, inland permanent residence applicants, inland spousal sponsorship applicants, professional athletes, vulnerable workers, refugee claimants, occupation-restricted open work permit for caregivers, bridging open work permit applicants, post-graduation work permit applicants, Canada World Youth Program participants, International Experience Canada: Working Holidays participants, secondary and post-secondary co-op applicants.

Family Sponsorship

Family sponsorship programs can also be used for immigration to Canada by the citizens of Egypt. To apply for the program, foreigners must have family members who are 18 and more years old permanent residents or citizens of Canada.

As a rule, Canadians sponsor their spouses, common-law and conjugal partners, children, parents, and grandparents who live in Egypt. A spouse, conjugal or common-law partner must be more than 18 years old and have a genuine relationship with a sponsor for immigration to Canada. To qualify for the program, adopted or biological children of Canadian residents ought to live in Egypt and be under 22 years old. Currently, the sponsorship of parents and grandparents works as a random selection system and can take from 20 to 24 months.

When Canadians want to sponsor relatives for immigration to Canada, they must upload the application package that includes all required documents, pay the processing fees, and send the application package to IRCC. In their turn, sponsored persons need to complete the medical exam, provide a police certificate, and give biometrics. Additionally, if citizens of Egypt are criminally or medically inadmissible, they cannot be sponsored for immigration to Canada.

Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program of the Express Entry System

For immigration to Canada from Egypt, skilled workers from Egypt also use the Express Entry programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). When residents of Egypt do not have work experience in Canada, they can apply for the FSWP. Foreigners must fulfill the following requirements to become eligible for the program

  1. They need to have a secondary education.
  2. For immigration to Canada under this program, the foreigners ought to have at least a year of foreign work experience under the NOC Skill Type 0, A, or B for the last ten years.

  4. Applicants should demonstrate that they have enough savings for settling in Canada.

The citizens of Egypt are also evaluated on the six criteria, such as age, education, language knowledge, work experience, a job offer, and adaptability in the new country. For immigration to Canada under the FSWP, the residents of Egypt are required to get at least 67 points out of a maximum of 100.

It should be noted that a job offer from a Canadian employer is not a requirement of the FSWP, but it can increase the chances of applicants for immigration to Canada. Foreigners who have work experience, such as senior managers, executives, or self-employed entrepreneurs, can earn additional points for having an offer of employment.

The residents of Egypt who have skilled trade professions can apply for the Federal Skilled Trades Program. For immigration to Canada under this program, foreigners must meet several criteria.

  1. The applicants should have no less than two years of work experience in the skilled trade within the last five years. For immigration to Canada under this program, foreigners must have the skilled trades included in the NOC Skill Type B.
  2. The citizens of Egypt need to have a job offer for at least a year from up to two Canadian businesses or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
  3. According to the English or French Language Proficiency Test, the applicants should meet or exceed CLB Level 5 in speaking and listening and CLB Level 4 in reading and writing.
