College of Applied Arts and Technology (GBC) started its history back in 1967. Today the institution boasts four modern campuses in downtown Toronto and is known across the province for a large number of full-time and continuing learning students - 30,500 and 63,000 correspondingly. Casa Loma, St. James, Waterfront, and Ryerson University Campuses together with Young Center for Performing Arts are all situated in Toronto, making both easy access and immersion in true city life possible for its attendees.

5,500 international students are enrolled at George Brown College. The task of the International Centre at St. James Campus is to coordinate international student services and provide maximum benefit and support to students, staff, and all the learning community. The workers of the International Center are responsible for the recruitment and admission of international students. Orientation sessions at the beginning of semesters at College keep international students updated. They are guaranteed help with study permit renewals and temporary resident visas. Social events and workshops are also organized at GBC to make the immersion of newcomers into Canadian life smooth and comfortable.

George offers more than 160 Full-time programs that include English for Academic Purposes, Apprenticeship programs, Bridging programs, Continuing Education, Degree, and Postgraduate programs, University Transfer, and Second Career programs. English for Academic Purposes is a full-time program that consists of 9 levels. The duration of each course is 8 weeks. Students who graduate from Level 8 receive an Ontario College Certificate, ESL for Business, and ESL for Hospitality courses are available too.

Apprenticeship Training programs at George Brown College are: Baker/Patissier Apprentice, General Carpenter Apprentice, Child Development Practitioner, Construction and Maintenance Electrician Apprentice, Construction Millwright Apprentice, Cook Apprentice, Educational Assistant Apprentice, Hairstylist Apprenticeship, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprentice, Plumber Apprentice, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Apprentice, Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Apprentice, Sheet Metal Worker Apprentice, Steamfitter Apprentice.
College also provides Fast-track and Bridging programs. They give students an opportunity to finish their studies in a shorter time period through advanced standing by recognizing previously achieved credits or a program delivered in a continuous format without extended vacation breaks.George Brown College Second-career program is available both for prospective applicants and current students. This program is funded by the Ontario government grant to help laid-off and under-employed individuals retrain for jobs in growing fields. English Language Admission Requirements at GBC include proof of successful completion of secondary or post-secondary studies with English as a primary language of instruction. Another option is certificates or diplomas of language proficiency issued by George Brown College, IELTS, TOEFL, MELAB, PTE, CAEL, or Cambridge English Exams. Other Admission Requirements vary from program to program.
