Cypress College's Marketing and Communications Diploma program focuses on the development of various business management, communication, and sales skills. Students of this program are introduced to PC and Word Basics, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher during their computer-oriented classes. Program employment skills include keyboarding, public speaking, Ziglar sales, negotiations, digital marketing fundamentals, Marketing 101, and knowledge of social media marketing strategies. Graduates can work as retail business managers, oil and gas professionals, sales representatives, accounts managers, or wholesale trade representatives.
The two-year Business Management Diploma program at Cypress College focuses students` attention on business management and its vital connection to client and employee relations. The course includes preparation in the fields of Accounting, Digital Marketing Fundamentals, Business Communications, Business Meeting, and Note-taking, Developing Relationships, Disability Awareness, Employment Skills Training, Finance Management, Human Resources, Management Theory, Negotiation Skills, Office Productivity, Project Management, Public Speaking, and Social Media Marketing Strategies. The Computer Technology program at Cypress College provides students with real-world skills for entry-level networking professionals and computer service technicians. The course combines extensive hands-on experience with individual and group exercises and prepares graduates for industry testing and certification from CompTIA A+, and Network+. The choice of potential jobs includes the positions of computer setup and repair specialists, entry-level network analysts, jobs in support desk, and software testing.
Students who choose the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at Cypress College learn how to work and manage a restaurant or property. During the first year of studies they are introduced to Cook Period 1, WHMIS / General Safety, Breakfast Unit, Kitchen Mathematics, Saucier Level 1, Bakeshop Level 1, Cold Kitchen Level 1, Meat/Fish/Poultry - Butcher Shop, First Aid, ProServe, Food Safe, Introduction to Food and Beverage Services, and Employment Skills. During the second course they learn Cook Period 2, Management Controls and Nutritional Components, Cooking Proteins, Saucier, and Entremetier - Level 2, Cold Kitchen - Level 2, Bakeshop - Level 2, Food and Beverage Operations, Food Safety Using HACCP, and Beverage Operations. The graduates can work as front desk managers, housekeeping managers, restaurant managers, food and beverage managers, catering supervisors or managers, FOH Staff Managers, and many other positions.
The Culinary Arts program is focused on preparing, cooking, seasoning, and presenting a wide variety of food in a commercial setting. Cypress College students learn how to complete dishes and meals, and determine food costing. During the course, they are introduced to Cook Period 1 Provincial ILMs, Breakfast Unit, Kitchen Mathematics, Saucier, Bakeshop and Cold Kitchen - Level 1, Meat/Fish/Poultry - Butcher Shop, Introduction to Food and Beverage Services, Business Productivity, Employment Skills, PC Basics, MS Word, and MS Excel, Communication Training, ProServe, Food and Beverage Service, First Aid, and Food Safe. The graduates of this Cypress College program are also ready to tackle the real-world challenges of communication and time management in the exciting field of culinary.
Applicants of the Cypress College must meet program-specific Admission Requirements including the English course and minimum grade required for the chosen program. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English Language Proficiency for admission to credit programs by presenting evidence like TOEFL, IELTS, CAEL or MELAB certificates, or some other. It is worth mentioning, that all students need health-care insurance to be accepted into programs and study at Cypress College.
